1.
Manage your anger, reframe your experience, and assert your rights - A public lecture by Dr Jim Byrne - Next available in
2012...
More people than ever are seeking counselling and therapy for problems of anger and rage. Now you can find out a whole
range of strategies that you can use to control your own anger, or you can teach them to others so they can control their
anger.
The CENT approach to anger management is informed by the very best ideas and techniques from cognitive psychology,
social psychology, Buddhism, Stoicism, Rational and Cognitive Therapy, the Human Givens approach, and others.
If
you would like a flavour of the kinds of ideas that I will present on the day, please take a look at this video clip:

wisdom of the ages on the subjects of anger, rage, aggression, assertion, and how to act constructively in conflict situations.

2. How to Reduce and Control Your Stress Level
On top of the move to post-industrial society, we now have to cope with the worst economic crisis since 1929. This meltdown
is placing exceptional pressures upon individuals, families, companies and whole regions of the country. No wonder people
are feeling more stressed.
What can we do when the situation is so dire, and we cannot seem to find a way through?
Turning to alcohol and drugs will only make matters worse! Escapism is a short-term palliative that does not work.
What then is the solution? We must turn to the wisdom of the ages. How have people ever coped with adversity?
When the pressure increases, is it possible to increase your coping resources? The answer is yes! And this presentation
by Dr Jim Byrne will show you how.

3. Introduction to the Theory and Practice
of Cognitive Emotive Narrative Therapy (CENT)
This lecture will be ideal as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event for professionals who use systems of counselling
and therapy in their work - including social workers, health care professionals, youth workers, coaches, counsellors, psychotherapists,
and interested individuals.
Cognitive Emotive Narrative Therapy (CENT) emerged out of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy
(REBT), by integrating it with Transactional Analysis (TA), Attachment theory and moral philosophy. It is a good balance
of the present-centredness of CBT and Mindfulness, plus the historical importance of childhood experience expressed in Attachment
Theory and Object Relations.
